Getting to Ljubljana

Ljubljana has always had a strategically good position for travelling between Italy, Central Europe and the Balkans. Nowadays it's easily accessible due to a well developed network of railways and roads. Slovenian airlines Adria airways supply flights for the Ljubljana airport, thus connecting the capital with many European cities.

Ljubljana airport
Ljubljana airport is situated some 20 km North of Ljubljana in the direction Kranj.
There are ever increasing direct flights, mainly from Europe.

Ljubljana airport transfer
Public bus service no.28 operates to and from Ljubljana bus station and runs about every hour. The journey takes 45 minutes, the cost is around 4 euro and you buy your tickets directly from the driver. There is also a private shuttle service running less frequently but it's a bit faster. The bus station in Ljubljana is small and situated immediately in front of the railway station.

If you take a taxi from the taxi rank in front of the airport it will cost about 35 euro. Nevertheless, there is some private tansfer service that can get you to Ljubljana cheaper.

International rail travel
Ljubljana train station is integrated into the European train system. As a signatory to the Shengen agreement, European Union citizens travelling on the international train network do not need to show their passports when travelling within the Shengen area. Visitors from outside the EU should check visa and entry requirements for all the countries they intend to visit. Tickets for international journeys can be bought from main stations and licensed travel agencies.
